Perhaps the most polarizing record of 2015…many will LOVE it and many will HATE it! I find myself occupying the middle ground. Is the abandonment of Mumford’s USP fueled by musical growth/exploration that usually characterizes as sophomore album or by boredom? It’s tough to say. The new direction is only new to Mumford. There’s not a ton of originality here, but it still makes for pleasurable listening. All in all, “Wilder Minds” is only “Wild” in that it doesn’t “mind” the demands of M&S fans. No doubt I will enjoy the album, but I do doubt that it stays on repeat as much as its two predecessors.
